GameStop is bashed everywhere and all the time. Even one of this site's writers (not me :P), hates the place for very silly reasons. It's not his fault, though. The rage is contagious, I suppose.
Personally, I'm fine with them. They've always got the game I want...some stores don't get the game in 'til the next week or even NEVER. >=[ The only thing I'm uncomfortable about is that the store is so small, and I feel like the employees are watching me all the time...so I get nervous when I'm trying out a demo kiosk.
But read the confessions of a GameStop employee, and learn about how they do business, and learn how to work with them to make your stay in that small, but well-lit gamestore a lot more pleasant.
Seriously, it's a good read. DO IT....READ.
